Tony's Story

Man with glasses giving thumbs up, wearing Barrus Bookkeeping shirt and hat.

In 2018, after many successful years in my construction/pool business, I pivoted to a new career. With a foundation based on years of experience using accounting software to efficiently & accurately track my business, I went back to college to certify & upgrade my skills in order to better serve my client's needs.

About Outsourcing Your Bookkeeping

  • Can other people access my data? No one can have access to your data without your company’s expressed permission.  We can set up restrictions to allow limited access for those you wish.
  • Will I lose control of my business by outsourcing?  Absolutely not, you still maintain all control over decisions on sending invoices, who to pay, when to pay, and how much to pay, and the checks are still signed by you.
  • What software do you support?  Quickbooks is my “go-to” general accounting software plus other apps and platforms in many industry-specific areas.  I must stress though that it’s not about me and what I use, it is about the client and what they will actually use if properly trained to do so.
  • Why use Quickbooks? If you're using spreadsheets like Excel and decide to outsource your bookkeeping and taxes everyone must figure out your homegrown system. Most accountants and bookkeepers can work way more efficiently within QuickBooks to streamline the process.
  • Do you replace my current CPA?  No. I perform the bookkeeping services only and take any guidance your current CPA can provide.
  • Does my CPA have access to my books if using online services?  Only with your permission!  By allowing your accountant and advisors access they can review and edit data as they see fit. Get some impartial advice from an accountant before you consult the bank. A bank will want to see a strong business plan and organized records. Let us help you get ready for your business's next step!
